Summer Family Mission Trip - July 21-27, 2012
Imagine a town the size of Jasper with virtually no evangelical churches. That town is Putnam, Connecticut. In July we will begin the process of partnering with Southern Baptist church planter Riley Prather to plant a Gospel witness in a town that has almost none. We'll be performing random acts of kindness, servant evangelism, community surveys, and possibly kid's camps - all to help Riley meet people who need to meet Christ. This will be the beginning of a multi-year commitment to Riley and what will one day by Green Valley Crossing. For more information on Riley, check out theputnamproject.com. We will also be doing some construction and renovation to a nearby barbershop that Riley and other area church planters have been using for evangelistic Bible studies. Thailand Mission -- August 30 - September 8, 2012
Volunteers are needed to help teach English and share the Gospel on Si Chang Island near Pattaya, Thailand. This island off the Gulf of Thailand has about 3,000 residents with only about a dozen professing Christians. Volunteers will serve alongside Southern Baptist International Mission Board (IMB) Missionaries Rick and Cooky Kuter and a local Thai church planting couple. Cost is $1,800 - $2,000 and includes airfare, lodging, meals, and all Thai-country transportation. U.S. Passport required. Bogota, Colombia -- October 6-13, 2012
We've seen how God has built a relationship with one unreached people group in South America. Now He's calling us to take the next step. October 6-13, we will be working in Bogota alongside IMB missionaries Stan and Debra Hughes. They share Jesus with refugees who've fled rebel violence as well as natives who've come to Bogota seeking advanced medical care. Most, if not all of these people, are from people groups identified as "unreached". The Hughes need mission teams who can do most anything to build witnessing relationships—puppet shows, Bible clubs and other activities for children, musical performances, health and hygiene classes, English lessons, sewing classes, and of course evangelistic Bible study are some of their suggestions.
